This is how I painted the side of the pantry (actually not a wall at all) with MMSMP in Shutter Gray. Did you know that you can use all MMSMP colors as chalk board paint? I love the way it looks in the kitchen and I love that it covers up the mess I made with my previous attempt.
Before picture, what a mess right? I had painted the side of the cupboard with cheap Dollar Store Chalk paint and it peeled off within hours of painting. It has looked like this for almost a year now. I know, I know, but I got so used to it that I didn’t even notice it anymore.
This is my inspiration picture. What a beautiful home, blog and Christmas tour! You can check it out here
The bottom corner has the start of the first coat of paint on it. In all, I used 3 coats and it covered perfectly! I used the new sample size of MMSMP (that I got from Wendy at Front Porch Mercantile) to paint this and it was the perfect amount of paint to cover the side of the pantry. I wasn’t sure that the chalk would show up with such a light color background but it does. It’s just a little more subtle and is a better fit with all the other light colors in the kitchen.
I “googled” Christmas chalkboard art and this cute tree came up. It was easy to free hand and then just shade in afterwards. I’m not gonna lie…I spent more than a normal amount of time trying to make it look perfect. Then I just walked away and realized that it didn’t have to be perfect. It’s going to get erased after all, so whatever!
