I have some exciting news to tell you about!
But first…let’s have a look at the latest dresser that I painted with MMSMP in Eulalie’s with a touch of Linen.
This dresser was given to me by a family friend. It was unexpected and I still can’t believe that it’s mine. It’s quite the doll now that it’s all cleaned up. I feel like it’s winking at me every time I walk by it. Anyone else feel get that vibe when they walk by their furniture?
When I got this beauty, she was in need of some major TLC and tons and tons of elbow grease. The laminate at the top was starting to peel off but I could see that there was something underneath that was begging to be seen.
Here it is before. See the potential? The knobs…oh I swooned when I saw them and they were all in great condition! Bonus!
I tried to peel off the veneer but it was not going very well.
So…I googled how to remove veneer from an old dresser and voila! It was a fairly easy process of soaking the veneer with really wet towels and letting it sit over night. Most of the veneer came off with a putty knife but there were a few spots that required a razor blade (which really is not enjoyable to use).
Finally with some hard work it looked like this. Pretty dry don’t you think?
Hemp Oil to the rescue. Just a little goes a long way.
Oh, the news…We got married. I dropped a little hint with the letters on the wall on top of the dresser. I’m Colette Ryan now. Still weird when I write it but I’m getting used to it.
We had a quiet little ceremony in our home. Eight people were there, I wore a sundress and jean jacket and lipstick. It was perfect.
Here’s my favorite picture from our wedding.
Thanks for dropping by. I’d love to know what you’re up to. Are you painting anything? Any projects on the go?
