I’m so excited to share this makeover with you. I was given this little cabinet from a sweet friend and it sat in my shed for a long time, neglected and forgotten. I didn’t know what to do with it.
Then…I remembered that Miss Mustard Seed was releasing a new “white” and I knew that I had to paint this cute little cabinet that very white! I’d tried all other whites in the MMS line and I love every one of them. I’m especially crushing on Grain Sack lately. It’s the chameleon color that changes with the light and fits perfectly with whatever you already have.
This new color is called Farmhouse White, what a fabulous name for a white paint, right? I mixed it up and started applying on the piece and you know what? I loved it. I love how it covered, I love THE color and mostly I loved how it looked after only two coats.
The cabinet had two doors on the bottom but they were damaged and I removed them to create an open storage area that I painted in Typewriter to contrast with the white.
Can you see how it sands off perfectly and looks naturally worn and aged? It’s one of the things that Milk Paint does so well and one of the reasons I love painting furniture with it. I’m totally out of my comfort zone with all the red in this picture but I am forcing myself to live with it. Red has never been a color that I was drawn to but lately…there is just something about it that is pulling me towards wanting to have more of it around the house.
The open space on the bottom of the cabinet is a great spot to store extra pillows or blankets. I’m thinking of moving it into my room next to my bed and storing my magazines in a nice basket to add a little more charm.
What do you all think of this new color?
