It’s Friday and we have reason to celebrate! The renovation over!!! Yay!! Now the little things need to get done but I am in no hurry…in fact I have made peace with the fact that I will tackle one thing at a time and enjoy the process. I need something to keep blogging about right?!
We are off to Moncton tomorrow bright and early to get blinds, curtains, rods, mats and things that we can’t find in Dalhousie/Campbellton. It’s certainly a sign of the times when I can’t find the right size blind to fit the kitchen window anywhere in our area. Of course there are only two stores to choose from but oh well, it’s an excuse to take a day trip and I don’t mind that one bit.
Here are a couple of pictures of the kitchen that I took with my Iphone and edited with the Facebook picture thingy. I like the look of them, good little faux Instagram.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Feel free to leave a comment at the end of the post, I think I’ve fixed the problem but if not let me know on my FB page…
More progress pictures, kitchen sink went in today and I am so happy to have running water in my kitchen again. The little things are what I’m really appreciating these days. If I wasn’t so completely exhausted, I would make a list of all the other things I appreciate lately too. But here are two of them…my mom and my awesome neighbors who have made (and delivered) three delicious hot meals for us while our appliances were not yet installed. And both my neighbors for taking down our rotting fence on each side of the house.
I have a feeling that I’m going to love living here.
Crown molding. Enough said really, but I have so many feelings that I want to share about this. I can barely contain myself. I feel like I can’t even describe how happy it makes me. The pictures that follow do not do justice to how beautiful it looks. It’s clean and crisp and classic.
I have no idea how they finish the corners on it, how they get the angles just right and how they have patience to even tackle such a chore. Seriously, I’d give up as soon as I hit corner number one. So a big shout out and thank you to Craig and Mike on all the hard work! We appreciate all your excellent work!
We are all moved in and “roughing it”. No appliances until Wednesday and no cable for at least a week. That is not good in my world. I am a television addict! But on a positive note, we are watching a lot of movies and Jack is playing outside more than ever.
Here is a peak at the kitchen. This is exactly what it looks like today. We also got our butcher block today, I will post pictures soon.
We have the keys and we are ready to get into DEMOLITION mode! In spite of just being in the beginning stage, I can’t help but wonder where this sign(I made this a couple of years ago) will hang. I’m thinking maybe the kitchen but who knows?
Here are some other beautiful signs from Blogland…
The kitchen island is going to be the heart of the kitchen. I want people to sit and chat, enjoy a glass of wine and just feel at home. I wanted something different from the laminate that will be on the counter but of course budget was a huge factor in choosing what we wanted. So after some shopping around we decided to go with this Ikea butcher block for $269
But…then we found “this guy” on Kijiji who makes custom-built butcher block counter tops. I was very intrigued and we got some info from him and the cost is about double the Ikea counter but I’m wondering if it would be worth it?? The sample custom piece picture is below. Which one do you think we’ll get?
